That’s right…I am talking to you Little Miss Hater. You know who you are…projectile vomiting your evilness all over social media in reaction to the Fifty Shades casting. But first…Hello GREYsessed readers! Are you still flying high like Charlie Tango over casting? Or perhaps you’re in your closet crying with a tub of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream… vanilla, or course! The last two days have definitely been a whirlwind and emotions are running at an all time high. Well, in case you missed it because you were living under a rock, Dakota Johnson and Charlie Huunam were cast as the coveted “it” roles.
Where were you when you heard the big news and what was your reaction? I myself was not completely surprised. I had a feeling that lesser known actors would be chosen and I think that was a good idea. We all know that Christian Bale is my Christian Grey and I would’ve paid any amount of money to see him in the Red Room. However, that isn’t going to happen, and the same goes for all your top picks as well. But both Dakota and Charlie have acting credentials and we should all sit back and trust in E L James and Team Fifty. NEWS FLASH: Dana Brunetti and Michael DeLuca are movie making magic. They are award-winning producers and like I have stated before, we are lucky to have such talent on this project.
But sometimes with the good comes the bad. The bad being all the negativity and hate being spewed all over social media. If you are on Twitter, then you have seen the awful tweets being sent to both EL James and Dana Brunetti. And in her usual classy way, Ms. James tweeted, “To all the supporters, lovers and haters-thank you so much for the passion that you have for this project. You all rock. All of you.” Dana also took to social media to inform everyone that “There is a lot that goes into casting that isn’t just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor etc.” Point well said Mr. Brunetti. He also later tweeted that “There can only be one… and it is done.” Another good point. Michael DeLuca, also weighted in on the casting by tweeting, “Auditions were stunning, incredible chemistry!” All I know is that if Christian Grey had his way, all these haters would get a riding crop to the arse, and not for their pleasure either!
The casting is done. So while I can appreciate the fandom creating an online petition to get the move recast, perhaps that energy can be redirected into something positive. Same thing goes for all you angry tweeters. Yes, be upset your Christian wasn’t chosen. But tweeting that you hate EL and company is just fifty shades of wrong. I have said it once, twice, a hundred times…. WORDS HAVE WEIGHT! We are all entitled to our own opinions, but there is something called tolerance. And cyber bullying. It amazes me the size of Ben Wa balls people have when they are hiding behind a computer screen. If you are a true fan of the books, then just know that Ms. James and her team are working tirelessly to make the best possible movie. Have some respect for the process and for people’s feelings. Okay, jumping off my soapbox now and giving you some Fifty Shades FAQ’s.
